Canon zooms in on a wide range of new features
New PowerShot Super Zoom series offers consumers
more benefits in a compact camera
Canon New Zealand has announced two new additions to its PowerShot SX Series, further
expanding the company’s focus on Super Zoom and offering consumers even more benefits from
compact camera models. Perfect for travel or creative photography, the PowerShot SX20 IS and
PowerShot SX120 IS let users get more out of their photography while enjoying a small, lightweight
camera.
“Consumers want more from their compact cameras,” says Rochelle Mora, Brand Manager –
Imaging, Consumer Activities, Canon New Zealand. “The Canon Super Zoom series gives users the
versatility to become more creative, while enjoying a compact design that allows them to take their
camera anywhere.”
PowerShot SX20 IS gives users the control to get creative
The PowerShot SX20 IS allows for greater creative control in a lightweight body and is perfect for
those looking to further explore photography. With a 20x zoom and wide angle lens, users can
capture impressive landscapes and great group shots. Optical Image Stabilizer reduces the effects
of blur caused by camera shake and lets users get clear shots even when they can’t get too close
to subjects, ideal for outdoor, sports and nature photography.
In addition to its advanced photography features, the SX20 IS offers versatility with HD movie
recording with stereo sound. Every moment will be documented in true-to-life detail, perfect for
reliving great holiday memories.
“The SX20 IS is ideal for travelling and action shots. The impressive 20x zoom with Optical Image
Stabilizer allows you to get a crisp, clear shot even at a distance,” says Mora. “The freedom of full
manual control and Canon’s TruCapture technology ensure you get the shot you want every time.
With the addition of High Definition movie recording with stereo sound, users can take their
creativity to the next level.”
PowerShot SX120 IS adjusts for any skill level
The PowerShot SX120 IS is an all-in-one camera with different modes for shooters of all levels,
from worry-free, easy photography for beginners to manual settings that give mid-range users the
freedom to develop their skills.
Combining a powerful 10x Optical Zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilizer, shots are crisp even at
high zoom, so photographers of all levels can be confident their shots will look great. A huge three
3-inch screen makes shots easy to see and review.
“Users can adjust the settings of the SX120 IS to suit their skill level, including point-and-shoot
simplicity with Canon’s Easy Mode and Intelligent Auto or Manual control,” says Mora. “This
versatility makes it a great camera for families to explore and develop their photography skills.”
TruCapture lets users get the shot they want every time
The Canon PowerShot Super Zoom series includes TruCapture, the combination of three Canon
technologies to ensure consumers get the shot they want first time, every time.
Optical Image Stabilizer combats shaky hands ensuring clear, sharp photos. When the camera
detects ‘hand-held shake’ it will shift part of the lens to compensate, therefore ensuring blur-free
photos and allowing consumers to continue shooting as the light fades.
DiG!C Colour Processor produces colours so they appear as true-to-life and vibrant as they do in
memories. Photos captured using DiG!C technology remain true to the scene in terms of colour.
The end result will be a photo with colours the way you remember them. Canon calls this ‘Human
Memory Colour’.
Intelligent Auto Technology detects faces, movement and scenes making it easy to get the
perfect shot. This technology combines Scene Detection, Advanced Face Detection, Motion
Detection and Noise Reduction technologies all in one automatic mode to ensure it is easy to get
the perfect shot.
Canon’s improved Intelligent Auto technology makes capturing stunning shots easy by
automatically detecting people, distance, brightness, colour and even movement information to
determine the shooting scene, such as Portrait, Night, Macro, Backlit or even Sunset. The
technology then carries out the optimum image processing for that scene, ensuring superior
quality images.
